Meet Sharom Njoki – A Story of Strength and Determination
Age: 13 Gender: Female Grade: 7
Sharom is a sixth-grade student at Nyakinyua Primary School. Born deaf and unable to speak, she faces daily challenges in a regular school setting without specialized support.
Sharom comes from a humble background. She is the third child in a family of five. Her father, Paul, lost his eyesight 4 years ago and is unable to work. Her mother, Lydia, runs a small daycare at Solai center, earning little to sustain the family.
Sharom’s story highlights the urgent need for support and resources for children with special needs. She can overcome these challenges and reach her full potential with the right assistance.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
Assist in sustaining her in the recently enrolled (special school for the deaf) in Junior Secondary and senior secondary and maybe up to the college level.
Meet Jane Nduta – A Journey of Courage and Hope
Age: 13 Gender: Female Grade: 7
Jane is a seventh-grade student at Nyakinyua Primary School. Born with albinism, she faces numerous challenges, including sensitivity to the sun, a long daily walk to school, and a lack of specialized care.
Jane comes from a humble background. She is the youngest of four siblings. Her father, John, works as a driver, while her mother passed away in 2017. The family also cares for Jane’s older sister, Tabitha, who was born with albinism and later developed meningitis, leaving her disabled and unable to speak. Jane often takes on the role of caregiver, helping with household duties and looking after her sister.
Jane’s resilience and academic potential highlight the need for support. She can overcome these challenges and build a brighter future with access to better learning conditions and care.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
- Enrolling her in a boarding school (she is a bright girl academically)
- Assisting the disabled sister get a caregiver/ enroll her in a home for disabled

Update on Sharom and Jane- 13th Feb 2025

Sharom has joined Ngara School for the Deaf, where she now has access to a supportive learning environment tailored to her needs. This transition marks a significant step toward her academic growth and personal development.

Jane has transitioned to Grade 7 at Nyakinyua Primary School. To support her continued success, we sponsored her new school uniform and reading glasses, ensuring she has the essentials needed for her education.
